When your home has a private well, your well pump brings the water into your property. The well tank is usually located in a closet or basement. One side is connected to the well pump, while the other is connected to the cold water main in your house. Within the well tank itself are two bladders: the upper bladder holds air and it is completely sealed, while the bottom bladder is for the water. As water comes into the tank, it pushes up on the bladder of air. This pressurizes the tank as the air pressure builds.
